Mom, this post is for you.
Don’t worry dads, this video will keep you entertained.
Let’s face it Moms, you are the CEOs of the household, the emotional support team, the event planners, the snack providers and, on more than one occasion, the only reason the family dog is still alive. But there’s a problem I see again and again in my chiropractic office:
Moms are putting themselves dead last. Heck, I am not even sure they are making the list!
After the kids, the job, the partner, the cat, the laundry, and that PTA bake sale (that you didn’t even sign up for, but are somehow still organizing), there you are: the burnt-out, aching, shell of a once energetic human.
And I’m here to tell you, as both a chiropractor and someone who’s watched too many moms walk into my office just emotionally and physically beat up, this needs to stop.
The “Mom Later” Mindset
If you’ve ever said, “I’ll take care of myself after everyone else is taken care of,” then congrats, you’re fluent in mom-comes-last talk. And look, I get it. Society practically hands out trophies for the moms who sacrifice it all and keep on smiling. But let me ask you this:
Would you tell your child to skip meals, ignore pain, live on coffee, and tough it out through exhaustion and stress?
No? Then why is that okay for you?
Newsflash: You are not helping your family by being exhausted, inflamed, and crabby. (Okay, I said “crabby” with love.)
You’re helping them by being well. And that means putting yourself somewhere near the top of your priority list, not scribbled in at the bottom like a forgotten grocery item.
Your Nervous System is Not a Fan of Mom-Guilt
Your nervous system, the master controller of your body, needs balance, rest, and support to function properly. If it’s constantly stuck in fight-or-flight mode from chronic stress, poor posture, lack of sleep, and ten thousand little “just one more thing”s, then it can’t regulate inflammation, digestion, hormones, or pain.
And guess what? Chiropractic care directly supports your nervous system.
When your spine is out of alignment (hello, lifting toddlers, loading groceries, and trying to assemble IKEA furniture at 10 p.m.), the communication between your brain and your body gets fuzzy. Over time, this leads to everything from chronic tension and headaches to poor sleep, low energy, and yes, even that moody fog you thought was just part of being a mom.
I’ve had moms tell me they didn’t realize how bad they felt, until they started feeling better.
“But I Don’t Have Time for Myself!”
Ah yes, the great mom lie. Let me be brutally honest for a second: you do have time. You’re just not giving any of it to you. You’re giving it all away.
Would you schedule your kid’s dental cleaning? Of course. Would you let them miss soccer practice? Not unless there’s a small plague involved. But somehow, scheduling your own adjustment or taking 15 minutes to stretch your back gets pushed into the neverland of “someday.”
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Here’s How to Start Taking Care of YOU (Without Selling the Kids, of Doing 7-10 for Offing Your Partner)
-
Put Chiropractic on the Calendar Like It’s an Important Meeting
Because it is. Your spine and nervous system run the show. When they’re supported, everything works better. You sleep better. Your digestion improves. You yell less at inanimate objects. (Win-win.)A 10-minute adjustment can shift your whole day.
-
Create a “Mom Only” Morning Routine (Even If It’s 5 Minutes)
Before the chaos starts, try this:-
Stretch your spine like a cat waking up from a nap.
-
Do 5 deep belly breaths.
-
Drink water before coffee (I know, I know).
-
Say something kind to yourself.
(Not “Ugh, I look tired,” but maybe “Look at me surviving another day. Absolute queen.”)
-
-
Sit Like a Human, Not a Shrimp
If I had a nickel for every time I saw a mom working on her laptop curled up like a question mark… Let’s fix that posture. Sit with your feet flat, hips back, and screen at eye level. Better yet—ask your chiropractor (ahem) for posture tips and exercises. -
Say “No” to One Thing This Week
No, you don’t need to make 48 cupcakes from scratch. No, you don’t need to join every school committee. “No” is a complete sentence. Use it generously and without guilt. -
Get Adjusted Regularly
Regular chiropractic care helps you:-
Move better
-
Feel less pain
-
Sleep like a semi-normal human
-
Handle stress without going full Godzilla on your family
Chiropractic isn’t just for injuries. It’s for maintenance. You know how you get your oil changed so your car doesn’t explode on the highway? Same idea—only you’re not a car, you’re a living, breathing, back-carrying superhero.

Real Talk: You’re Worth the Effort
If you’ve ever said, “I just want to feel like myself again,” then please listen to me:
You can.
But it starts with recognizing that you deserve care, too.
You deserve to feel strong, clear-headed, and energized. You deserve to be free of chronic tension and that weird pinch in your neck you’ve been ignoring for six months. You deserve support, not just for your family, but for you.
And taking care of your spine and nervous system is one of the best, most impactful things you can do. Because everything, your sleep, your energy, your moods, even your immune system, runs through your nervous system. And that system works best when your spine is aligned and your body is supported.
Final Thought (With Love and a Little Sass)
Dear Mom,
Stop being the afterthought in your own life. You’re not being noble by sacrificing your health, you’re being exhausted. And I promise, your family wants you healthy and happy, not hunched over the kitchen island in week old leggings wondering if coffee counts as lunch (again).
Let chiropractic care be the beginning of your return to YOU.
You’ve taken care of everyone else. Now it’s your turn.
Need a little help getting started?
I’m here when you’re ready; no judgment, just support (and maybe a few spine jokes). Come see what it feels like to put yourself first, for once.
You’ll be amazed at what a properly aligned mom can do. 🦸♀️
